I loved all of the shows closing today, but Head Over Heels is the one I’m the saddest to see go.

Without further ado, here’s my top 5 theatre-going experiences of 2018.

As I grew up, saw Wicked a few more times on tour, and realized I was queer, I also came to realize that maybe, just maybe, Elphaba was queer too – if not just an emerald-skinned metaphor for queerness.

Go see “Collective Rage: A Play in Five Betties” for the great representation, wacky plot, delightful dialogue, and relatable performances – but stay for Betty 2 and her journey.

Just a few weeks after our production of Newsies closed, I moved back to New York City to begin preparing for my next school year at Marymount Manhattan. And how did I spend part of my first weekend back? At 54 Below with my editor in chief Molly and fellow board member Gigi at the 5th Annual Newsies Reunion Concert, of course.

Unlike all the other high school-set musicals I’ve seen, watching Be More Chill I finally felt like I could belong in the world of the show.

It may be friend bias, but Erica’s Julie was the best Julie Jordan I think I’m ever likely to see.

Moulin Rouge! is a perfect candidate for making into a big budget Broadway spectacular, and with Alex Timbers at the helm it is very close to being perfect popcorn entertainment on a Broadway scale.
